Say what you will about Mel Gibson, the guy’s a performer. No denying that. Can’t deny that.
A unhappy executive finds a beaver puppet and uses it to bring himself out of depression. Hard to say if anybody else could have played this role, since Gibson basically owned the role. Makes you wonder how much of the art imitates life while watching it. Regardless, you can’t take your eyes off of him when he’s on the screen.
Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawrence are here. Their threads are interesting, but they have a hard time following Gibson’s scenes. He’s that much of a presence in this.
